Most people who apply for consulting positions have absolutely no idea what constitutes a good consultant. They think that just because they are a good software developer, that somehow qualifies them to be a consultant. Sadly, that's not even close to being a correct assumption.

This is so true its hard to be cynical and biting :) It's nice to hear about software devs placing the business first. Why isn't this their first instinct? I've always made it my charge to have the business come first, but develop the code in such as way as not to compromise the continued success of the code base.
"I don't think it's worth it" shouldn't come from the developers mouth.
