In my previous post, Free Yourself from the Tyranny of Null parts one and two, I argued that null was a maintainability nightmare waiting to happen in any real-world codebase, and showed how to avoid it in style. I can’t speak quite as strongly about exceptions; while null is pure evil and has been banned from our codebase, exceptions probably do have a place in the practical programmer’s toolkit.
