During Thomas Kurian's keynote at JavaOne this year, I gave a three-minute demonstration of an application running on a Oracle Coherence data grid, but I didn't have a lot of time to talk about how or why it worked, and more importantly, how or why we are so certain that it is going to work. Recently, I found some notes I had jotted down before the presentation, describing what a data grid is. This is probably the most concise way I've ever found to describe data grid technology
