The article features short interviews with the XRuby and JRuby teams. XRuby is a Ruby to Java bytecode compiler which recently had some impressive benchmark results. Among speed, the XRuby project also provides an ANTLR based Ruby parser, which could well replace the current aging JRuby parser post 1.0.

Nice article, murphee. But it'd be nicer if you let other people find your stuff and post it organically.

Hi Daniel,
Whoops, is it bad etiquette to post self published articles on DZone? After all, they'll only get promoted if people deem them interesting;
I admit I haven't researched diggology and redditism enough.

Well, it's frowned upon etiquette (though, not officially). :-) Some of us on the dzone team don't really care if it's one of your own articles or not.
I tend to be a bit more critical of people who have posted their own article. I figure that if it's good enough to get on dzone, then it's probably good enough to have been found by someone else. People who post their own articles are less critical about the article than others may have been, so it can lead to some really junky articles going FP (though, not so much now as it was in the early days).
The exception to this blanket statement is great content posted on undiscovered sites that has no other way of seeing the light of day. My personal rule is to just be much much more critical of self-posted stuff. But if it's good content, I'll vote it up.

Oh, addendum. Regardless of what I said, if you post something to some site somewhere, and you think it's really really great but it's not getting much attention, feel free to post it to dzone. I don't want to make you feel like you've been submitting bad content. :-)

Great - thanks for the clarification, Daniel;

I don't mind people posting their own stuff if it is as good as this :-)
Post away Murphee, and keep up the good work :-)
