XStream is for sure one of the best Java and XML frameworks around. It offers great ease of use, simplistic approach and fun to work with. In this post I'll demonstrate how easy it is to setup and start using XStream for all sorts for Java to XML serialization and deserialization of XML to Java.

XStream is a good library. The "No mappings required" applies only when you are satisfied with the generated default names (which is hardly the case in real.world settings).

XStream is good if you're not serializing long lived objects because it does not work well with class versioning like the default XMLEncode in Java does.
