Snippets 2 Launches!

        If you're a regular visitor to the site, you'll notice the layout has change a lot around here.. well, actually.. most of the code has too! Yes, you're now using Snippets 2, a total rewrite. It still lacks some of the things the old one lacked, but the infrastructure is now there. The old Snippets was notoriously unstable on the newer versions of Rails.

New features include.. syntax coloring (for Ruby, primarily, at the moment), the ability to mark posts as 'private', an all new design, and better URLs and RSS, etc.

Source access for this new version will be via SVN and will be made available in the next couple of weeks as the bugs are wriggled out of this version and I fix up all of the 'hacks'! Post your comments/praise/bug reports on the new version here..

And also when viewing by a member's tag (eg. http://www.bigbold.com/snippets/user/krusty/tag/java).

I think I found another bug. Private snippets appear to all users when viewing by tag (eg. http://www.bigbold.com/snippets/tag/java).

The new design is so sweet. ^_^ I like it. Thanks for the syntax highlighting, it seems to work with python as well.

Wow this layout is really fantastic! It looks fresh! What I _really_ love to see now is an open API to make some toys ;-) keep up the good work Peter!

Very cool. I think I found a bug though. I created an account without an email address, username willywonka. Then I changed my username to SimonDorfman. After that, I couldn't log in with either username. Shucks.

Looking good, Peter, I love the design changes and the 'private' post feature. Now if we could only mark others' code as 'favorites' or something..... :) I did notice one bug - http://bigbold.com/snippets/tag/snippets is redirecting right back to http://bigbold.com/snippets/ - maybe a routing error? I'd like to be able to subscribe to that tag so I can keep abreast of further spiffy upgrades! :)
